Benefits of MiniMaths
- Children learn counting and number logic through games and songs
- Learn about colour, shape, space and measurement through games and structured play activities.
- Acquire social skills in Group working, co-operation with peers, sharing and turn taking. Build confidence when working with peer group in speaking, leading and sharing ideas.
- The syllabus works on building knowledge in the area of Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy as set out within the early learning goals for the Early Years Foundation Stage. The classes are designed to work for all children, to build on existing knowledge, to consolidate and put meaning to their discoveries and to extend their existing knowledge.
- Many of the topics and concepts are taken from the foundation stage and key stage 1 national curriculum, so that children are ready to explore maths at school at a higher/advanced level. This gives children the advantage when starting school. The way in which we teach maths in the sessions mirrors very closely how maths is taught in school up to the end of Key stage 1.
